These are just highlights so continue checking this website. AE generally has great sales where you can find both trendy pieces and cute basic pieces that are a little bit more stylish than Gap. I find that I really like AE jeans, skirts, blazers, and dresses.

AE has great sales, too, so I wouldn't buy anything full price.

Basic Finds at Gap

Although Gap is not the most exciting clothing shop, it is actually a good place to get cheap basics, on sale. I would not buy anything at Gap for full price because I'm uncertain that the cost is worth the quality or style. However, I think it's worth it when Gap items go on sale, especially jeans. I find that Gap jeans fit me pretty well.

Banana Republic Promotions Trend

I've spent the day doing analysis of the promotional trends of one of my favorite clothing stores, Banana Republic. I researched when and what their sales incentives were for the past year and then I looked at what were the best times to shop. I've concluded that generally the end of the month is a good time to shop as well as the end of October, the week before Christmas, and the first few weeks of January.

Here's a full listing of my analysis:

Banana Republic always has some sort of sale and free shipping promotion going on.

The most common promotion is: 15-25% off of $100-$125

The last week of October offers great sales- usually 40% off

Thanksgiving Sales usually range about 40% off- pretty good but usually items can be as cheap during the end of October sales

Banana Republic also offers a series of 1 day, 30-40% of sales- sometimes in-store only, sometimes online only, sometimes both. One example: One Day 40% off in stores only, Dec 10, 2008

The week before Christmas usually offers 60% off

The first and 2nd week of January also offers exceptional sales. There are seasonal sales in January, March, June, and September around the 15th of each month.

There are usually holiday sales around Memorial Day, Labor Day, July 4th, etc.

At the beginning of the month BR offers 20-30% off select items

At the end of the month BR usually offers a 20-25% discount on orders of $75-$125 Stay tuned for analysis on more stores!
